Beginning March 31, the n6x will begin making stops at Elmont Road and New Hyde Park Road. Additional stops were added in January at 169th Street Subway and Meacham Ave. These additional stops will enhance service, making the n6 Express and local even more convenient.

Our decision to launch this route came after we analyzed all the stops on each route, recorded passenger counts by stop throughout the day and night, and studied mobility patterns across the County. Most importantly, we talked to our riders. We got out on the buses and met the people who rely on us every day.
We learned that many of you wanted a faster way to connect to the New York subway for your morning and evening commute. With these riders in mind, we designed two new express routes: the n6 Express and the n22 Express.
To reduce commuting time for many people, the n6 Express service will only stop at 6 stops between the Hempstead Transit Center and the 169th Subway Station in Jamaica, as follows:
Westbound trips pick up at the Hempstead Transit Center, Terrace Ave, Westminster Road, New Hyde Park Road, Meacham Ave, and Elmont Road. After Elmont Road, the bus will run non-stop to 179th St/Hillside Avenue subway station and then the 169th St subway station in Jamaica.
Eastbound trips pick up at the 169th St subway station and make stops at the 179th Street subway station, Elmont Road, Meacham Ave, Franklin Ave, and Westminster Road. After Westminster Road, it will drop off at Hilton Ave and the Hempstead Transit Center.
The n6X will replace the n6 Limited. For customers at limited stops that are not one of the express stops, or for customers continuing to the 165th St Bus Terminal, please board the n6 Local.

With the introduction of this route, there’s no faster way to connect to the 179th St./169th St. subway stations from the Hempstead area. Take advantage of it!
