Community Meetings:

We are committed to reaching out to members of the Long Island community, both riders of NICE Bus and Able-Ride, for their input on improving the system and their opinions on proposed changes to bus service.

As part of the transition to this public-private partnership, this fall we hosted several community meetings and listening sessions at key transit centers designed to allow riders, employers and other members of the public to comment. Our goal is to encourage as much public participation as possible.

In the future, we will continue this practice. We will include a wide array of stakeholders in our public meetings -- including riders, senior citizens, disabled persons with special transportation needs, students, business owners and others. To the greatest degree possible, we will make meetings easily accessible and convenient to all stakeholder groups.

Community meetings and listening sessions will be promoted in a number of ways, including on this web site and through other on-line channels, and through flyers, posters and word of mouth. For those who cannot attend a community meeting, we will provide ample additional opportunities to provide feedback, including through this website, focus groups, e-mail comments, and other methods for input.
